Hastings-on-Hudson NY/Moviehouse Mews
Hastings-on-Hudson is a picturesque village in New York State located along the Hudson River, just north of New York City. The village is rich in history, art and education. It also lays claim to the birthplace of 5 Nobel lauriats! Summertimes are filled with farmer's market weekends, walks along a network of trail systems and stolls around town.
The Moviehouse Mews is a collection of retail spaces located in which was once The Hastings Theater. Opening in 1920, the theater was frequented by town residents Billie Burke (The Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz!) and Flo Ziegfeld (from the Ziegfeld Follies!).
D. Thomas Fine Miniatures occupies the last space (#6) which once housed the Hastings Theater film screen boasting 16' ceilings which best help highlight some of the tall structures on display. The shop shares the Mews with the French Press Cafe (BEST coffee ever and yummie food treats too!), a hair salon as well as a medical office and jewelers.
A number of fabulous restaurants are dotted along the main strip (Main Street and Warburton Avenue) and include The Mill and Juniper. There are also a number of cute shops and galleries in town like Maisonette and Upstream Gallery.
When you visit D. Thomas Fine Miniatures, be sure to make a day of it and take in all that beautiful Hastings-on-Hudson has to offer!
