Lee Harper | A Violent & Colorful Death
18" x 12" x 12"
Materials: Cloth, dried moss, paint, wood, paper and animal bones
The concept behind History Bones is to bring obscure, forgotten or fascinating bits of history back in memento mori styled dioramas. Scheele's Green was an arsenic based green dye used on countless products in the 1800's. These products made consumers sick, but the history of what the dye did to the employees that handled it everyday is mostly forgotten. This piece aims to show the contrast of creating beautiful artificial flowers against the ugly horror this dye inflicted on those who were just trying to make a living.
