Decorating an Extraordinary Dollhouse

We were THRILLED to be invited back by The Hudson River Museum to decorate the extraordinary Nybelwyck Hall. This year we pulled together a group of talented miniaturists to help! Click here for a complete list of contributing artists along with a photo recap! 'Tis truly the season!

Charles Matton Featured in New Exhibition

An incredible new exhibition of work by master miniaturist Charles Matton (1931-2008) will be on view at the Musee Miniatures & Cinema in Lyon, France through March 2018. Oh, to be a world traveller!

We Were on the Radio (and the interwebs!)

Awesome Miniature for Sale at Christies

Extraordinary miniature sedan chair by Fabergé made of gold and enamel will be auctioned in the galleries at Christies in London as part of the "Important Russian Art" event scheduled for November 27th. Don't forget your checkbook.

Cardboard Craft or Stunning Photograph?

Digital artist and miniaturist Juhamatti Vahdersalo uses mainly cardboard to craft highly detailed models which he then uses to take awesome photographs. Check out his You Tube channel to see more of his work and process. Save your cereal boxes!

Miniaturist Spotlight: J. Getzan

Artists from J. Getzan Miniatures show us how they create detailed on inch-scaled copper pots in this short video. Check out our assortment of copper and other tiny treasures online or at our location in the Shoppes, in Cold Spring NY. Get hammered!

Christmas at Nybelwyck Hall

We were honored at D. Thomas Miniatures to be invited back to The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, New York to decorate the extraordinary #Nybelwyck Hall dollhouse on permanent exhibition.

We framed the front entrance of this massive 24 room dollhouse created by Mark O'Banks with a della robbia wreath and hung garland adorned with gold glittered Christmas balls and painted branches crafted by Donald Morcone.

A pair of potted topiary frame the door and greet visitors. The "still life" fruit used to adorn these pieces were made by Sharon Harbison.

We placed tons of wrapped and bow-tied gifts made by Jen Rothstein from DogMa Creations under a shining gold-starred Christmas tree in the front entrance hall.

Miniaturist Cassie Leigh from CassieLeighArt created an assortment of Christmas postcards composed with seasonal good wishes. A feathered fountain pen and ink well accompanies the collection.

A tiny Christmas village by Rebecca from Tiny Dwelling was the perfect addition to the nursery on the second floor.

The fireplace mantle is decorated with an intricate traditional Christmas wreath along with gift and treat-filled stockings by Manuela Michieli from MiniMadeinItaly.

A board of breads and cheeses by Sharon Harbison adds to the feast being prepared by the staff at Nybelwyck Hall as the family gets ready for the holiday.

Preparations for an apple pie are in progress in a piece by Sara Smilnak (IG: @Saramadecreations)...dough has been flattened by a wooden rolling pin and fresh apples have been cut. An apple pie sits finished and ready to slice.

A hand-stitched linen pillow featuring a delightful chickadee on a branch wrapped in a red ribbon was made by Debbie Booth from Ribbonwood Cottage and sits atop the bed in the master bedroom reminding Mr. and Mrs. Von Nybelwyck of the joyful holiday season ahead.

The dining room table is set with an abundance of foods and treats including a gingerbread house by May Burnett from Custom Fairy Wings, a Christmas pudding by Erika from The Petite Provisions Co., and a sliced pumpkin pie by Sara Smilnak (IG: @ SaraMadeCreations).

We had a BLAST decorating this extraordinary structure. We are grateful to the Hudson River Museum for the opportunity to showcase work by these talented miniaturists. A BIG thanks for their creativity and contributions to this year's Christmas decorating event!

Philadelphia Miniaturia

We had a BLAST attending this year's Philadelphia Miniaturia in Cherry Hill, NJ last weekend. A few (from the many!) notable miniatures seen at the show included the furry rabbit cage by Kristin from Heartfelt Canine and this fabulous three-tiered harlequin cake by Ruth Stewart from Stewart Dollhouse Creations.

Massive Miniatures featured in New Film

WATCH: this *must see* behind the scenes look from Weta Workshop, the company responsible for making the MASSIVE miniatures featured in the new Blade Runner 2049 film. <awesome>

Holiday Decorating at The Hudson River Museum

We've been invited back by The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, NY to decorate NybelWyck Hall, the extraordinary 24 room dollhouse on permanent view at Glenview, the victorian mansion that is part of the museum property. If you're in the area, this museum has a wonderful collection in addition this massive mini structure created by Mark O'Banks that features over 900 tiny treasures.
