I am thrilled to host a special Meet the Miniaturist featuring winners from the annual HBS/Miniatures.com annual Creatin' Contest on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 4pm ET. Register now to join the livestream here.

ree

For the last several decades, Miniatures.com has sponsored an annual contest to challenge makers everywhere to design and build a miniature structure starting only with a single kit. This year, makers started with 3 walls and a floor and the end results were astonishing!

ree

This livestream will include interviews with several winners of this year's completion including Cathy Jones (pictured above) from Jones.4.art on Instagram who came away the Grand Prize for The Art Gallery, an awesome 2 story structure filled with small scale reproductions of full scale artwork on display made her family of artists including her daughter and mother!

ree

We'll also get to chat with Gina Zetts, from Letties Dollhouse on Instagram who received Honorable Mention for Botanist’s Folly, an incredible 1/12 scale environment featuring tall leaded glass windows, an multiple drawer apothecary cabinet and shelves filled with jars, books and potions. Gina is a (full size) glass sculpture artist, educator and museum worker from Richmond California. If her name sounds familiar, you may remember we had Gina on last year for her previous Creatin' Contest win for the miniature glass shop she created!

ree

Stand by for details on additional winning participants in this livestream to be announced later this week! I'm excited to be chatting with each of these winners, hear more about their backgrounds as miniaturists and to learn more about their winning work!

I'm had a special Meet the Miniaturist for a virtual visit to the Office of Collecting and Design, a museum-like exhibition and studio space curated and created by artist and filmmaker Jessica Oreck.

ree

The Office of Collecting and Design is located is Las Vegas, Nevada and features a "collection of collections" including, among many other things, a large assortment of foreign chewing gums, bingo chips of various designs and, of course....MINIATURES!

ree

The space opened in April 2021 and receives visitors from around the world.

We received a terrific walk through of the exhibition and had a chat with Jessica about her concept, her work as a stop motion animator and heard more from her about why people have a fascination (obsession?) with collecting!

ree

The chat box was open as always to take questions from viewers.

ree

A BIG little thank you to Jessica for the private tour and insightful discussion about collecting!
