Perhaps you are downsizing your collection of miniatures or looking to make room for more miniatures (who knew little things take up so much space?!); Perhaps you have concerns that your collection will be ushered into the right hands after you’ve moved on to a bigger and better mini world beyond. Let's connect and chat about your options for finding happy homes for your tiny treasures and the services I provide which will ease your mind and ease your heart at the same time while transition your collection to happy new homes.

I'm a passionate miniaturist with a deep love for this hobby, this craft, this art form. I've been involved in this discipline for as long as I can remember...my dad built me my first dollhouse when I was just 8 years old. This was not something a young boy growing up in Brooklyn asked his staunchly conservative father back in the 1970s to do...but I just had to have one (you know the feeling) and I have the same energy and passion for "the tiny" I had back then.

While I collect and craft miniatures as a hobby, I mostly promote and sell tiny treasures through D. Thomas Fine Miniatures, the company I founded in 2014. Over the years I've developed a keen ability to connect collectors with buyers who share the same understanding of the love, dedication and hard work it takes to curate a personal collection of miniatures. I also have an extensive background in marketing, having served for over two decades as a brand executive for the Revlon corp., and use that experience to raise awareness of miniatures as the art form it deserves. I'd be happy to talk about your options when making the important decision to sell or transition your collection to a new place.

In addition to mu marketing and selling services, the greatest value I provide if you decide to work with me is that I am able to best able to join sellers with enthusiasts who share a common appreciation for the joy, respect and care that miniatures deserve. I’m often called a “Miniatures Empath” or a "Dollhouse Whisperer” as was talked about in my feature in the March 2021 issue of Dolls House and Miniature Scene magazine.

Recently I hosted a free webinar to inform and educate collectors about their options for selling a collection or donating to a worthy organization. Participants learned how to best protect their assortments so they are as cherished in their new homes . I also answered questions about ways of handling adored miniatures.

Meet the Miniaturist: Winners Edition!

Sponsored by HBS/Miniatures.com

Excited to present more winners from the popular Creatin' Contest, hosted each year by the folks over at HBS/Miniatures.com at a special Meet the Miniaturist: Winners Edition on Sunday, June 27 at 4pm ET. We'll chat with each winner, hear about their mini-inspirations, learn more about their craft and see their work up close!

Dianne Gordon| Cheese Cellar

We’ll meet Dianne Gordon, granted a Third Place Win by wowing the judges with an awesome Cheese Cellar complete with a wine pairing set-up atop wooden barrels surrounded by truckles wheels of cheddar, parmesan and brie.

Dianne has been making miniatures since she was a child and is so passionate about making food miniatures that she opened up her own ETSY shop: TinyAppetites, where she sells hand-crafted miniature foods.

Dianne also has an active Instagram account where she posts more of awesome food miniatures here: @tinyappetite.

Montana Marshall | Demon Barber

First Time Entry Winner Montana Marshall, from Portland Oregon, created Demon Barber of Fleet Street inspired by Broadway’s celebrated, but bloody musical, Sweeney Todd.

Marshall describes herself as "equal parts silly, spooky, nerdy, and weird" and is influenced by themes which tap into horror and the supernatural. She has had several "firsts attempts" in crafting scratch-built items in Demon Barber including the cobblestone street, the wood pull cart and food miniatures completed using weathering and aging techniques to give the work a grimy, back alley look and feel.

You can find Montana and follow more of her work on her Instagram account here: @darkersideofdollhouses.

Ess Raja | Primrose Cottage

We'll also chat with Ess Raja, a mom of three from Houston, Texas and another First Time Entry Winner. Ess is a self-proclaimed "artist by day and an artist by night" with a design philosophy based on traditional Japanese aesthetics called "Wabi Sabi" which is centered on the acceptance of imperfections. (I have to practice this BIG TIME).

Ess created Primrose Cottage with a mix of hand-crafted elements as well as miniatures from her personal collection. The piece depicts "the journey we all take from shiny and new to eventual wear and dilapidation. It has seen many summers and lived through many storms. It’s not a place, it’s a feeling and we’ve all been there."

Some of the key features of Primrose includes a beamed ceiling made from 200 year old repurposed wood, hand painted terra cotta tiled flooring and a really cool crawl space underneath the structure. Ess decorated both sides of this kit for a versatile piece which maximizes the wow factor!

Ess Raja can be reached on Facebook or on Instagram: @ess.raja.designs
