Welcome to a new fall season of....miniatures! After a quiet(er) summer, I've been deep in cataloging, photographing, and preparing several truly special collections, and I'm trilled to welcome you back!

My weekly auctions restart on Sunday, August 30th, and I couldn't imagine a more joyful way to begin than presenting miniatures from the wonderful world of the very talented IGMA Fellow Karen Markland. This is the largest group of Karen's miniatures that I've ever had the pleasure to offer. These pieces come to us from a West Coast collector looking to downsize and was curated with a deep and broad range of pieces which were kept in excellent condition. If you already love Karen's work, this is a terrific opportunity to find pieces to add to your collections. If you're new to her work, you're in for a treat!

To help you explore, I've created an extended online preview gallery, so you can begin wandering through before bidding begins (click below).

What makes Karen so special? Well, she didn't just simply create dollhouse miniatures, she created HAPPINESS in small scale. Each piece is hand-painted and overflowing with imagination and whimsy, and with a charm that transforms a small space into something more than just a display. Her work seems to have always been about JOY. Collectors have treasured that for decades, and with pieces like this no longer being made, they have become a rare chance to hold on to her artistic legacy. Learn more about Karen in a recent blog post:

This first week of auctions, I'll highlight three seasonal favorites: Christmas: full of cheerful details that capture the warmth of the holidays, Halloween and Autumn: playful rather than spooky, with pumpkins, harvest colors, and hand-painted furniture. And then Spring and Easter, which almost bursts from the heart with the rabbits, mice, flowers, and cheerful decorative touches that encourage a smile. Never miss an update on my auctions and events by signing up for my newsletter updates!

There are individual furniture and accessories lots as well as multi-piece groupings to be offered, including hand-painted armoires, cabinets and dining hutches and other stand-out pieces of furniture that have been decorated, some embellished and filled with additional Markland miniatures.

But this is only the beginning. Additional Karen Markland treasures will be coming in the weeks ahead. Including non-seasonal rarities: garden themes, Americana, Raggedy Ann and Andy, and her iconic Noah's Ark vignettes.

So if you love Karen's work, follow along each week and get ready for this joyful miniRide...this early fall season is just getting started, and this, we'll move on to wonderful miniature toy dolls, pull toys, and artisan creations in my Delightful & Delicious offering, before concluding with masterful miniature artisan furniture and accessories (#swoon). Oh, and I'll be adding pieces each week from multi-estates I've been working on to add to the offering (and add to the excitement!). Take a look through the preview gallery, save D. Thomas Miniatures as a favorite seller on eBay if you haven't already. And come back as another exciting season of miniatures begins.

Happy collecting!
